This question is a very personal question and one you consider very seriously. Each person has to manage their finances accordingly and know what a limit in punting should be. The other aspect is discipline, you should understand that you need a lot of patience, discipline and time to review the best outcomes. We recommend you work within a very comfortable limit and you set an amount you will not go past each week.

While there is no one size fits all strategy in sports betting, we do believe the very best punters have a mixed strategy of building a variety of outcomes and techniques to maximise their returns. If you want to develop the best strategy then you can read more about how we go about this in this article > https://beatingthespreadguru.com/10-ways-to-be-a-better-sports-punter/

We believe it does form part of an overall strategy but it by far is not the core component or strategy that we use within our system. The main issue we have is the odds and how punters build multi bets. We often see punters early in the week building out multi bets in Head to Head events and building the multi bet into a potential very high return with very little chance to win it.

We have been developing and are still working on improving our system. In 2023 we had an incredible year and our systems returned over 100% in profit to the members. While we can’t force a punter to stick with our system, we can suggest that if you are very honest with yourself and you are actually losing week in week out, or more importantly over the course of the whole year. If you haven’t been able to lock away a significant profit before the Christmas holiday period, then it might be time to have a real hard look at how you go about making changes so you can win more.

We believe in the way we work our system, and if we can find better ways to help our members win more of course we’ll keep trying. The main consideration is discipline and staking our system in a responsible way. So that when we post the results of our system at the end of the year you too should be in the winners circle.

In the Rookie Pass, which is our entry level pass, in 2023 we returned a profit of 194.62 units. If you are a $20. a unit punter you won $3892, a great result.

In the Pro Pass, which is a next level pass, in 2023 we returned a profit of 354.82 units.

Our ALL Pro Pass results were extremely successful, a $25,000 stake after all fees and commissions ended up at $53,523.60, a $28,533.60 profit.

While we can never guarantee our results, we do have a very successful track record.

If you haven’t heard what a “Crush” is (and don’t worry you aren’t alone) then you can read our full article here on how this strategy works > https://beatingthespreadguru.com/what-is-a-sports-betting-crush-and-when-to-use-it/

What we can tell you is anyone who bets multi bets has had the last leg of a multi bet go down and the whole bet is lost. That’s a pretty awful feeling when you have the last leg of $1000 multi lose and you win nothing. With this strategy a “Crush” should form part of how you never lose one of those bets again.

Everyone wants to be successful in sports punting, but it really is rare to find punters that can win week in and week out and not give back the money to the house. One way to do this is to find a lane. Finding a lane is a way to hyperfocus yourself on specific trends and outcomes.

Some lanes you could consider –

  1. Invest in the Sport you watch the most
  2. Outcomes based on home field advantage
  3. Home team totals with strong offensive both 1st and or 2nd half review over options
  4. Away team totals with very poor offensive full time totals
  5. Alternate total line predictions adjusting the total higher or lower and favouring a tease of trim strategy that range from $1.35 – $1.65
  6. Player prop multi in game outcome, 3-4 legs in multi (parlay) at $1.35 is equal to $2.44 (144% profit!) – this is really the only same game multi we look at
  7. Alternate line combined total outcomes (2 LEG PARLAY) in the range of $2.40-$2.80
  8. A very strong offensive team (No 1 scoring teams vs usually the rest), but lower ranked teams that also struggle to score
  9. One higher unit outcome on a $1.45+ favorite that you rate as the best reason that a result will occur (range 1- 5 units but not more than 80% of your total unit stake)
  10. Live betting with the bookmaker direct (generally by phone – FOR NOW) in games where teams are racing up the points, you can really bank on this strategy

There really are a number of factors as to why or what the main reason is, but in our opinion it really is time to review, and an understanding of how a bookmaker sets there odds. The odds are rarely in your favor, but when they are, would you be able to make the most of that situation? The answer is generally no as well, meaning when good opportunities do arise because punters don’t have a consistent staking system, or understand how to best evaluate odds of an outcome and how they should weight that outcome, to much money is left on the table. You read more about the 5 main reasons why sports punters lose here > https://beatingthespreadguru.com/the-5-reasons-why-sports-punters-lose/

This really depends on how you go about betting on sports. In our experience there are a lot of sports that generally (if you know where to look) offer opportunities. The challenge is only a few sports run all year long, most don’t and some sports are better suited to the playoff or end of regular season outcomes. This presents the everyday punter (or better every week style punter) with a challenge. If you are going to attempt to pull off a winning record over the course of the calendar year (from January to December) then you might want to have the time to watch a lot of sport and a lot of different sports. In a recent article we talked about finding a lane, which in short means finding a sport you like, that you watch and that you like to learn more about. There’s nothing worse then just blindly opening up a market in a sport you have never seen or never really understood. This then presents punters with a challenge, do you have the discipline to stake one sport for your full year of punting?
